It's 100 years B.C. While working as an apprentice shoemaker Jess becomes caught in a feud over a broken sandal. This begets heartbreak for two young lovers who fail to receive the blessings of their fathers. Jess tries to ensure the marriage goes ahead. And that the families can be reunited.
It's 1888. Jess finds himself joining a friendly race and interacting with the people of a small mining community where he encounters Tugen, an immigrant who dreams of winning the local teacher's affections against all odds. But something malicious may be unfolding which requires Jess's help.
It's Modern day. Following a crippling accident, Anna, a former teen horse riding prodigy, and her family visit a campground where Jess is working during summer. The two clash but become friends after Jess inspires Anna, by showing that regardless of any situation, the future is always hopeful.
It's 1952. Cleaver Jackson, a short tempered company head forms an unlikely friendship with the new mailroom boy, Jess, due to their mutual interest in fishing. But some others in the company, including Perdita, the daughter of Cleaver, suspect that Jess has ulterior motives.
Jess is working as a carpenter in 19th century West Coast USA. The community is drained following the end of the Gold Rush. Jess encounters two bullied students, and attempting to help, and discovers that they've been living alone after their mother died and their father became a drunkard.
It's 1959. Jess is the new kid at a High School in the Midwest. Prom is coming, and he's already impressing the teachers and students. This brings the ire of Danny, a jock and former top student, offended by the attention Jess is receiving from female students, including Danny's girlfriend.
It's 1899 Boer War in South Africa. An unlikely bond is formed between Jess, two dehydrated British soldiers and a local farming family. The father, Pieter, has a severe leg injury and the soldiers are the only ones who can help. They arrived as enemies. But will they leave as friends?
It's 1850. The Wild West. On his travels, Jess crosses paths with a troublemaking thief, Aran. Despite him causing all sorts of issues, Jess feels sorry for Aran and accompanies him to his family's farm - where more surprises and family conflicts are in store.
It's Modern day. During an attempt to find sugar for his diabetic girlfriend, Greg, a 16 year old star rugby player is injured in a fight, and can never play rugby again. Although wanting revenge, Greg has Jess to help avoid his path. To forgive, and live in the present. To never give up hope.
It's 1856. A Chinese storeowner and his grandson are being intimidated by a local gang of racist teenagers led by the bully, Tully. Jess intervenes, but Tully is persistent. So Jess looks for a way to ensure Tully is taught a lesson he will never forget.
