Madeline's Christmas
As Christmas Eve approaches, Madeline is the only one in the convent who is spared from a miserable cold. The stricken girls' spirits drop when they realize they are too sick to travel home to their families for the holidays.

Madeline's Rescue
Madeline falls into the Seine and is rescued by a courageous dog. The girls take home the collarless mutt and name her Genevieve.
Madeline and the Bad Hat
The Spanish Ambassador and his family move into the house next to the convent. The son, Pepito, proves to be what Madeline calls "a bad hat"; an ill-mannered, mischievous braggart.

The Spanish Ambassador and his family have moved to London. Miss Clavel and the girls are invited to London for Pepito's birthday party and they buy a retired horse from the Royal Stables as a gift.
Madeline
Madeline gets appendicitis and must go to the hospital to have her appendix removed.
